The Network Box ‘S-Scan’ engine is a high speed web content filtering system, designed to help organizations block undesirable web content from reaching their users.
When combined with ‘Google Safe Browsing,’ there are sixteen categories of undesirable content, covering websites which might directly harm an organization’s computer systems (websites compromised by malware), as well as websites which include subject matter that may be criminal in nature (hacking sites), cause offence (sexually explicit or hate sites), or otherwise harm users (spyware or fraud).

Any website found outside of these sixteen categories is shown as ‘uncategorized.’
However, the ultimate settings of each Network Box system, is entirely in the control of the client organization. It is possible to turn all web content filtering off for the entire organization; only filter web content for certain groups of users; or only filter certain subsets of categories for all or certain groups of users. Network Box security operations centre engineers are on-hand to help client organizations setup their content filtering requirements to meet individual organizational policies.
LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) and Microsoft Active Directory support is included for authentication purposes, allowing users to be identified by name if required.
In addition to the Network Box ‘S-Scan’ engine, it is also possible to further enhance content filtering performance and granularity, by upgrading any Network Box system with the SurfControl / Websense database. If the SurfControl / Websense database is used in place of the Network Box ‘S-Scan’ engine, the number of website categories rises to fifty six, allowing much finer grain control over the types of websites which can be visited.
The Network Box ‘S-Scan’ engine is not restricted to any one language or geography, and aims to cover websites hosted across the globe, wherever they might be located.
